About Me
Hi there, I'm Madelyn! I am currently a senior studying English and National Security & Intelligence Studies at Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia. Over the last 3 years Fairmont has become my second home, and here I have found my educational aspirations & passions, my community, and great work opportunities!
Outside of classes I work in Fairmont State's LEAD Center as an English/Writing Tutor. I work with students 1-on-1 on everything from essays, to presentations, to even just general study skills. As of August 2024 I will be finishing up a summer internship with local newspaper The Times West Virginian, where I have had the opportunity to learn about journalism first-hand, writing dozens of articles over the course of my internship and growing more and more comfortable with professional, journalistic writing. Going into the 2024-2025 school year I plan to continue freelancing for the Times West Virginian.
Also at Fairmont State I am in leadership with a student organization called Chi Alpha Campus Ministries, where I have found some of my best friends and have been able to reach out to students across campus in many ways over the last few years. After graduation I plan to stick around and complete a year-long internship with the organization.
After spending that year on Staff with Chi Alpha, I plan to pursue further education into a Masters program and (possibly!) a Doctorate program in the future as well. I plan to continue to study English and hope to cultivate a career that I'm passionate about, whether it means I become a professor of English, become an author, or whatever it may be!
